Prom is coming for juniors and seniors, leaving most sophomores and all freshmen, seventh, and eighth graders out. However, don’t fret or feel left out! Saegertown Key Club is hosting a Spring Fling on Friday, April 29 at the SHS cafeteria from 6:30 to 9 p.m. for all students. The price is $3 for a ‘single pringle’ and $5 for a couple. The dress is semi-formal.

The proceeds from this dance are going towards various projects, such as Change for Troops, Share the Warmth, and annual events.

Saegertown Key Club is holding Change for Troops this week, and homerooms are competing to collect the most money for an incentive of doughnuts. The Key Club is FullSizeRenderdonating this money to the organization Change for Troops, which is a fundraiser collecting money to purchase supplies and send care packages to soldiers.

The Key Club is also holding a Caps for Coats and Pajamas Too on Friday. It is $1 to wear either a hat or pajama pants, or $2 for both. The proceeds go to Share the Warmth.

Over this weekend, the Key Club is volunteering on Saturday to paint benches at Bertram Park starting at noon. On Sunday, the club is planting trees at the Erie Wildlife Refuge (16149 Duck Lane, Guys Mills) starting at 9 a.m. They are planting 2,000 plants in the large area.

This club purchased a Meadville Tribune subscription for Mr. Robert Gulick’s classroom for Youth Serving Youth project for literacy. They are also working on Pen Pals with SES’s third and fourth grade classrooms.

Key Club inductions and end of year celebrations are on May 11 in the library at 6:30 p.m. The new president is Sydney Kightlinger, the vice president is Scout Van Cise, the secretary is Rachel Barner, the treasurer is Ben Haylett, and the editor is Emily Loccisano.

“Key Club is an amazing thing. I’m excited to be inducted in as president. There are great things ahead. Just wait and see,” said Sydney Kightlinger.
