Arts and  Academics Night on May 23 put the many talents of SHS students on display.  The main event of the night, the spring chorus concert, was themed ‘nature.’ Along with the songs, there was a slideshow of nature photography to reflect the music. As the concert came to a close, the seniors followed tradition and presented a gift to Mrs. Duncan. However, this year they wanted to return the gift of music that Mrs. Duncan has given them. The senior chorus members came together to sing the song “For Good”  from the musical “Wicked.” Senior Brittany Gentry said, “We wanted to do something different that she would like. We had to be really sneaky about practicing so we had to hide the music and practice at my house.” They also spent time practicing when Mrs. Duncan wasn’t in school.

Adding to the night, the halls were filled will artwork. The art classes, both junior and senior high, had mugs, drawings, paintings, sculptures, and many other crafts on display. Projects were judged and students were recognized for their talents, including junior Deni Lance, who won best in show.
