Colonial Days. It’s a tradition at Saegertown Jr. Sr. High School. Every year before Christmas break, the eighth graders research the time period, and they presented their findings and participated in other colonial themed activities on Dec. 21 and 22. Kearstin Runyan said, “I thought it was fun finding out different facts that I did not know.” On Wednesday, they had experiments with invisible ink in science teacher Mrs. Dillaman’s room, a farrier in English teacher Mrs. Keeling’s Room, a video in history teacher Mrs. Fink’s room, and they learned about colonial money and practiced converting from one type of money to another in Mrs. Walls’ room. “My favorite part was the farrier. He was very interesting and I learned a lot,” said Kenzie Ashbaugh. Yesterday, students shared with their classmates what they learned and showed off their colonial costumes by dressing as the person they researched. Examples included John Adams, John Hancock, Nathan Hale, and George Washington. All of the eighth grade teachers agreed that it was a successful and fun-filled day of learning.
