SHS community dons costumes for a good cause
Saegertown High School held its first Halloween dress-up day on Thursday, Oct. 27, bringing back fond memories of the elementary school years. Sponsored by Student Council, the event was not only fun for the students, but it also helped a greater cause. Every student sporting a costume was required to bring in one canned good for donation to a local food pantry. Over 100 students participated in the event.
“I thought that costume day was done in an appropriate and fun way. I also liked seeing the teachers being relaxed and doing something collaboratively with the students,” said Isabel Lang, a mouse for Halloween dress-up day.
At the end of the day, the best costume prizes were awarded to three students and two teachers. For the students, Lee Galt and his morph suit took first, with Kameron Willis, and Kayla Sibeto taking second and third. The winning teachers were first place, Mr. Young with his heavy metal rocker outfit, and Mr. Simcheck, who dressed up as a five-sport athlete, took second.
