Ms. Waddell has joined Teach for America

This summer substitute teacher Katie Waddell will be participating in Teach for America, a non-profit organization that provides equal education for all children, regardless of status. She will be placed to teach any where from Pre K to 8th grade, but she won’t know her placement till June. “After research and listening to different experiences from core members, it went along with my goals and what I wanted. I wanted to give back, to be a bigger part and give kids the education they need, to help them get the education they need. My goal is to reach as many children as I can, and bridge the gap for children,” said Waddell.
She is an Edinboro graduate with certifications in early childhood and elementary education. Before she begins her Teach for America assignment, Waddell will spend the summer being trained with other college grads involved in the program.
