With more and more people by the day being diagnosed with breast cancer, many charity organizations have formed to raise awareness and funds to combat cancer. Recently the Keep a Breast Foundation has come under some scrutiny from the SHS staff because of the double meaning of their popular “I Heart Boobies” campaign. In an interview with Saegertown’s Principal Mr. Wilson, he said, “It really is a worthwhile cause, and I think that anything that goes towards research for a cure is great, but the double meaning of the bracelet is just not appropriate.” Mr. Wilson added, “If students were to say this in class, then they would be in the same amount of trouble. Any other pink bracelet would be fine, but the slogan is just not something we want in the school.” Mr. Wilson also wanted to point out that while he has had a loved one affected by cancer and donating to the cause is a great thing to do, students should not wear the I Heart Boobies merchandise to school.
